Kuwait, 13,  February 2012: Shirva Welfare Association, Kuwait (SWAK) celebrated their annual Parish Feast on Friday 3rd February 2012 at Indian Central School, Abbasiya. The celebration which kicked off at 5:30 pm followed with a welcome speech by Nitin Castelino, Welcome song was presented by the committee members. Clifford D’Souza, President of SWAK welcomed the gathering. The Annual activity report was presented by General Secretary Gretta D’Souza.

The programme consisted of series of activities such as live music provided by Adrian Gomes and his family team, mind blowing music of DJ Sudhi kept the crowd busy stuck to the floor, The foot tapping dances were performed by Aral Noronha & Janice Lobo, Danica Monteiro, Sheldon, Freya, Ralph, Flayan, Calder, Loretta & Shawn, Alisha Gomes, Adley & Shania, Ines, Irel & Meghna, Avril Mathias, Sweedal & Sweeny Mathias, Regina, Shabitha. Saritha, Sharal, Shanthi & Lavina.

The melodious songs were presented by renowned Rony D’Cunha, Lancy Rodrigues & Gladys Lorenha (Winner of Gulf Voice of Mangalore) Ashley & Ashwin Correa, Ralph Serrao, Sheldon D’Souza, Ashok Barboza, Ashley, Alston, Alister & Ashwin, Calita, Carol & Astrel.  The Scintillating instrumental music by Alston & Alister Gomes was appreciated by one and all. The hilarious skit was presented by Sunny, Godwin, Nitin, and Anil & Renny.

The programme was graced by the Guest of Honour Rev. Fr. Stany Tauro, Parish Priest of Shirva Church, Fr. Noel D’Almeida of Ahmadi Parish who along with the office bearers and others in the ceremony of “Cutting of the cake”. Fr. Stany Tauro also delivered the festival message and appreciated his parishioners in Kuwait for their charity and generosity for the community. Fr. Noel Almeida congratulated SWAK for their excellent work done, back at home, towards the less fortunate & needy.

 As a token of appreciation, Fr. Stany Tauro, visiting Parish Priest of Shirva Church was honored by SWAK. In aid of building a parish house in Shirva a cheque of Rs.1Lac was also presented. All the sponsors of the event were also felicitated with flower bouquets.

The programme reached its crescendo with award distribution ceremony. Merit scholarships were awarded to outstanding member’s children for academic achievement in 10th, 12th standards for both academic and sports category. Trevor Clyde D’Souza was awarded the Late Princel Diona memorial award, Late Thomas Castelino memorial award was given to Deandra D’Souza and SWAK sports awards were bagged by Myron Menezes and Ferrol Serrao. Sweeny Mathias was awarded with SWAK award for misc. activities. Lucky dip and members draw were held and prizes were distributed.

Alwyn D’Souza proposed “Vote of thanks” and dinner was served after the blessings by Fr. Stany Tauro. The programme was sponsored by Lawrence D’Souza (owner Caesars Group) and co-sponsored by Archie Menezes and family, Herold D’Souza (Royal Plaza), Elias Sanctis and family and Stany Pinto.
 
Illuminations (Anand D’Souza) provided the Sound & Lighting. The catering was provided by Royal Plaza Caterers. The entire event was compered by Deepak Andrade.  The event was very well organized and appreciated by all. The credit for successfully organizing this event goes to whole SWAK managing committee and its members.
