Kuwait: Agnesian Alumnae celebrate “Joyeux Navidad 2011”

Kuwait, 29,December 2011: The resounding success of past Christmas events- ‘Joyeux Navidad 2006’ and  ‘Joyeux Navidad 2007’, motivated the Agnesian Alumnae Kuwait (AAK) to spread the Christmas cheer once again on 24th December 2011 at the Movenpick Hotel, FTZ, Shuwaikh.

The Christmas season started off Carol singing by the ladies of AAK along with their little children.  Santa painted the town RED as they moved from house to house spreading Christmas cheer.

 The Executive Committee members of Agnesian Alumnae Kuwait had left no stone unturned to organize a Christmas extravaganza on the eve of Christmas keeping in line the tradition of their Alma-Mater an event called “Joyeux Navidad 2011”. The event commenced at 10:30 p.m. with a welcome goodie bag handed over to each family as they entered the venue. The President- Diana D’Souza extending a warm welcome to the gathering and thanked the audience and sponsors for their support towards the AAKs` cause of financially supporting the education of meritorious yet, underprivileged students at their Alma Mater St. Agnes College, Mangalore, India. Thereafter, the dynamic and well-famed Master of Ceremony Lloyd D’Souza took over.
 
While the crowd gradually increased in number, the AAK Star contest for children took the centre stage. With about 23 children taking part, the judges Mrs. Sophia Pais and Mrs. Vinutha Miranda were faced with a challenging task of selecting the Stars of ‘Joyeux Navidad 2011’.  The AAK Star (female) of the evening was Ms. Rumelle D’Souza and The AAK Star (male) was Master Ruyen Correa.
 
With the children all set to the mood of the event, Christmas Carols were sung along with the Band ‘The Classix’ and the grand entry of Mrs. & Mr. Santa led by little reindeers- Clyde D’Silva, Jorel Patrao, Dasha D’Silva, Tia Dias, Lianne Fernandes, Angle D’Mello, Abner Fernandes and Natasha Andrade brought added cheer to the event.

 AAK Office bearers and Committee members together with Mrs. and Mr. Santa cut the Christmas Cake. Children received their well deserved goodie bags from Santa Claus at the Santa’s Corner. Enthusiastic parents didn’t miss the opportunity of grabbing these moments on camera.

 The joyful Christmas eve moved on with a dance session by the Live band ‘The Classix’, followed by the non-stop dancing session from ‘Music Masters’ (DJ Marlon and John).  Spot prizes interrupted the dance session only leaving the crowd wanting for more music and gifts.

 Mr. Alidio Gomes was the lucky winner of the entry draw sponsored by KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, winning a free economy class return ticket to Europe.

 

The Raffle draw was done by Mr. Ashley D’Silva, representative of Al-Yasra Foods. AAK Congratulate all the winners who won fabulous prizes.

 A scrumptious buffet was laid by the host Movenpick Hotel under the captaincy of Chef Nigel was relished by one and all. Followed by Novelty Dance enjoyed by the couples as they carried the Theme  novelties of the evening “STAR” winning many a prizes for their participation. The ambience was lighted  by Illuminations which brought in right moods to the evening.  The crowd enjoyed and danced until the wee hours of the morning and brought the curtains down only at 4.00 a.m. The event was well conducted by Master of Ceremony- Lloyd D’Souza ensuring that both the crowd as well as the organizers had great memories to take back home of a grand Christmas Eve celebration.

 The AAK is grateful to all well wishers and sponsors; without whose support the event would not have been so grand and successful.

 It was truly an Agnesian presentation in style and spirit of their Alma-mater. Keeping in mind the motto of AAK, the proceeds will be added to the existing Scholarship amount to render support to the students who need financial assistance for their studies. The resounding success of “Joyeux Navidad 2011” once again displayed the ability of the ladies of AAK who have meticulously taken care of minute details. It is yet another feather on the cap of AAK.
