POM to hold Pearl Voice Junior singing contest

Abu Dhabi , Sep 6, 2011 : The Abu Dhabi based Pearls of Mangalore (POM) will organize its first Pearl Voice – Junior singing competition for talented Konkani singers in the UAE.

POM chief Alphonse Mendonca said that the purpose of this event is to provide a platform for new and talented singers, adding that POM believes that the youth have a great role to play in the future of our country.

Children between the ages of 8 and 13 can participate in this event; but they should be based in the UAE. The event will be held in two categories—for kids between the age of 8 and 10 and for kids between the age of 11 and 13. Only Konkani songs are allowed. Six contestants from each category will be chosen for the finals.

Those interested must send copies of their passport with visa page along with the CD or USB containing 3 songs recorded in their voice. Registration forms can be sent to pearlsofmangalore@live.com on or before September 25, 2011. The audition will commence in the second week of October and the finals will be conducted in the first week of December 2011.
