MKCA celebrates Independence Day

USA, Aug 15, 2011 : The Mangalorean Konkan Christians Association (MKCA), USA, celebrated the 64th year of Indian Independence during its annual picnic held at Vernon Hills Park District in Illinois.

MKCA President Queenie Mendonca hoisted the flag and all the members sang the national anthem.

Later, the members played volleyball, throw ball, shuttle, badminton, and cricket. Besides, games such as musical arms, sack race, lemon and spoon race, tug of war, water balloon, dog and bone, and others were also conducted.

The MKCA had also arranged mouth watering snacks and drinks for the members.

President Queenie Mendonca and Lawrence Mascarenhas, the previous president, distributed prizes to the winners. Chairperson Stany D’Souza thanked all the members for participating in this memorable event.

The executive committee invited the members to attend the Monthi Fest celebrations, which will be held on September 10, 2011 at Courtland Square Recreation Hall.
