Girish Shetty unanimously elected as president of Karnataka Sangha Dubai

Girish ShettyDubai, Jun 6: UAE-based entrepreneur Girish Shetty, who was the vice president of the Karnataka Sangha Dubai for two terms, has been unanimously selected as its president.

The Karnataka Sangha Dubai is the oldest community service organization, which has been serving Kannadigas in particular and Indians in general in the UAE. The organization elected its working committee for 2011 – 2013 at a special function held at Ramee Royal Hotel on June 4, Saturday.

K. R. Tantry presented the annual report. Chandrashekar Sankole, the treasurer, placed the accounts statement of the sangha, which was unanimously approved by the general body.

The entire executive committee was appointed unanimously without any opposition or election, after which the vote of thanks was proposed by K. R. Tantry, the outgoing general secretary.

M. A. Lathif, the chief advisor; Zafarulla Khan, the advisor; Sadiq Hussain, the advisor and election officer; and C. R. Shetty, the president of the previous committee were present and provided valuable suggestions and advice based on their experience.

Toward the end of the event, Aya Kirodian, the general secretary of the present executive committee thanked all the advisors and committee members. President Girish Shetty gave dinner to all the members at the Ramee Royal Hotel.

The new executive committee of Karnataka Sangha Dubai comprises Girish Shetty as president, K. R. Tantry and Daya Kirodian as general secretaries; Shashiraj Nagappa as the joint secretary; Jayanth Shetty as the treasurer; Manohar Hegde as the member of the sports committee; Sathish Venkataramana as the member of the entertainment committee; Lawrence Nazareth and Peer Mohammed as the members of the registration committee; Kushal Shetty as the member of the media and public relations committee; and C. R. Shetty.

The general body meeting of the association was held at Winney’s Restaurant on the previous day in the presence of M. A. Lathif, the chief advisor; Assad, the election officer; and C. R. Shetty, the previous president.
