Dubai, 26 May 2011: Peter A Lewis, a renowned artist with 50 years of experience in this field had the opening night of his art exhibition recently at the Movenpick Hotel, The Gallery, Bur Dubai. The outcome was marvelous with various depictions of coastal Indian culture. The exhibition was inaugurated by Anuja Chakravarty, Second Secretary (Culture) to Indian embassy, UAE. She expressed her appreciation of the works by Lewis which convey richness of heritage with an intimate eye and affectionate touch.

He is active as a creative artist, imbibing the scenic splendor of the West Coast and exemplifying it in his works through symbolic overtones. The simplicity in his style has an attraction of its own. Insights into tribal life have furnished the stimulus for aspects of Lewis’ creative impulse. Coastal Karnataka has been a melting pot of faiths, and this is duly reflected in Lewis’ work. Deep feeling and effort have been expended on the vast canvas "Buffalo race, Cock fight, Fisher folks, Horses." These paintings range between AED 5,000 – 80,000.

Many of Lewis’ paintings evoke the genre of 19th century French Impressionist painters whose bold colours and fluid forms were a landmark in western art. Over the long course of a fruitful career, the public have had occasions to take in his offerings at prestigious galleries in India and abroad. The art exhibition is to celebrate and exhibit Peter A Lewis over the long course of his fruitful career of 50 years in art. It will be held open till May 25.
