It was another joyous occasion for all the Billawa community friends and relatives to get together and participate in various sports and games organised by the Working Committee.


Over 400 members along with their children gathered and it was encouraging to see participation in large numbers from distant places like Barka, Seeb, Nizwa, Kamil and Sohar.

e Sports Meet was inaugurated with the release of pigeons by Oman Billawas president Pitamber B. Alke, Umesh Bantwal, Dr CK Anchan, SK Poojary, Ashok Suvarna, Founding members and Chief Coordinator of the Working Committee, Anand J. Sanil, Gangadhar Poojary symbolising peace, harmony and togetherness among Billawas in Oman.


The Sports Meet began with the first semifinal cricket match between “Poojary XI A (Worldwide Business House Team)” and “SNG XI C (Kushal Bangera Team)”, followed by various sports events for children of different age groups. The second semifinal match was held just before the stroke of lunch between “Kudroli XI (NPA Events Team)” and “Billawa Challengers (Red Rose Team)”.


The Worldwide Business House Team won against SNG XI and Red Rose won against NPA Events Team. In the final, Red Rose won the Oman Billawas Cup for the annual cricket tournament 2011.


There were various sports events for men and women as well as for children of various age groups such as 100m race, shot-put and tug-of-war.


The organising committee members Sujith Anchan, Ramakrishna, Guruprasad, Mahesh Salian, Suvi Bangara, Suchetna Anchan, Dinesh Poojary, H. Sohan, Kavita Sanil, Harish Poojary, Sudhir NK conducted the games with utmost professionalism. Cricket commentary by Nitin Salian from Sohar was the highlight of the day.


Woman Accuses Man of Using Black Magic to Control Daughters   Pics: Savitha B R Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (PS)   Mangalore, Jan 20: Little more than a month after the ’black magic’ terror hit the city ending in three-year-old Priyanka’s brutal murder, another case has cropped up, though not as horrific.  In a complaint filed by one Leelavathi with SP A Subrahmanyeshwar Rao on Thursday January 20, the complainant stated that two of her daughters are being controlled by one Krishna Maniyani by his ’black magic’ powers.  She said that her daughters are in his absolute possession and control and are refusing to get out of his house. Despite several requests made by Leelavathi, Krishna Maniyani did not sent them back, she alleged.   Earlier Leelavathi also consulted Sampya police station to register a complaint in this regard. But SI Anand did not heed to her requests, forcing her to approach SP Rao on Thursday.   Rao has assured that action will be taken on this issue.

Sports Coordinator Gangadhar Poojary along with his team ensured that all sports were conducted smoothly and on schedule.


There were six high value electronic items sponsored by Omasco (Panasonic) and Daewoo Products, which were announced for the lucky guests at the end of the day.


In his vote of thanks, Anand J. Sanil thanked His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said. He also thanked various sponsors who had supported in making the programme a wonderful success. The encouragement and support received from all the founding members was also appreciated and acknowledged. He also thanked all the community members for participating with great zeal and enthusiasm in making this event a memorable one.
