GVOM II semi finals will commence on September 30

Dubai, September 2: The second edition of the Gulf Voice of Mangalore (GVOM), a talent hunt show, is currently in progress; and all the six participating Gulf countries have selected 2 male and 2 female candidates each for the semi finals, which will commence in Bahrain on September 30.

The semi finals of GVOM have four major sponsors. Ronald Colaco, the NRI entrepreneur and his family, will be the platinum sponsor of the event, while the other major sponsors are Nido, Dunes Hotel Apartments, and UAE Exchange.

Chief Coordinator of GVOM Valerian Peris told the reporters of, which is the exclusive web partner of GVOM, that accommodation will be arranged for visitors for the finals of GVOM – II, which are scheduled to be held in Shaikh Rashid Auditorium, Dubai on Oct 22, 2010. Leslie Rego will be master of the ceremonies. Reena D’Souza, Claud D’Souza, and Joel Periera will be the judges from India.

Mr. Peris further said that a large number of VIPs and VVIPs are expected to participate in this show, which has several surprises in store for the public.

The semi-finals of GVOM II will be held on September 30 in Bahrain, October 1 in Doha, October 7 in Muscat, October 8 in Kuwait, and October 15 in Abu Dhabi. The grand finale of GVOM II will be held in Dubai on Oct 22.

Workshop for contestants

Under the banner of “Youth Recreation Club,” GVOM arranged a workshop to brief participants about the rules and regulations of its semi finals and finals. This workshop was held for all the contestants on August 31, Tuesday at Bon Bosco School at 5 p.m.

The semi finals of GVOM II will be held in Kuwait on Oct 8, Friday at American International School Auditorium on Maidan Hawalli from 4:30 p.m. The selected contestants will participate in the grand finale, which is scheduled to be held on Oct 22 in Dubai, along with finalists chosen from Oman, Bahrain, UAE, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia.

The workshop commenced with a prayer and introduction along with a welcome address by Lawrence Pinto, the organizer of the workshop. The contestants were given pep talks by prominent Konkani musicians such as Gration D’Souza and Fr. John Harry D’Souza. An interactive session marked the end of the workshop.

Fr. John Harry D’Souza, accompanied by Lawrence Pinto, Gration D’Souza, Louis Rodrigues, Wilson Saldanha, and Rita Rodrigues, began campaigning GVOM II by inaugurating its flyer. The flyers were then distributed to everybody in the gathering.
