Navelim hold unique Football Draw in Kuwait

Kuwait, August 2 : 20 teams were drawn in 2 groups at a DRAW held on 30th August 2010 at Don Boscos, Salmiya for the ALVERNAZ-LALUSH MEMORIAL TROPHY football tournament.

In a unique presentation conceptualized by ’Spectrum’, jerseys of participating teams were displayed on stage while lots were picked up in the form of team colors.


The tournament presented by Navelim and sponsored by Churchill Brothers, Goa is scheduled to be played under floodlights and green grass grounds on 5th and 12th August 2010 in Kuwait at Bayan and Surra stadiums respectively starting from 7pm onwards.


The participating teams include: AVC – Kuwait, C.R.C Chinchinim, DHL-I, DHL-II, Don Bosco Oratory, Fahaheel Brothers, Goa Boys, Goa Maroons, Ilhas Brothers, Indian Strikers, KRH Friends Circle, Kuwait Goan Association, Livrament Boys – Benaulim, Nissa, Navelim Youth Centre, Rising Stars, Santos FC, Skynet Raiders, United Friends Club and US - Strikers.


After the successful conclusion of the draw, Event Coordinator Mr. Agnello A. S. Fernandes said, “We are honored to have been requested to conduct this tournament under the Navelim banner and we promise every participating team, spectators and sports lovers a football extravaganza in the coming two weeks.”


Goa’s PWD Minister Shri Churchill Alemao’s daughter Vanda Alemao-Dangle was present at the draw along with her husband Dr. Pravin Dangle. Mr. Denise D’Costa of the Alemao family was also present.


Earlier, a minute’s silence was observed as a mark of respect to late Alvernaz Alemao and his wife Lalush Alemao in whose memory the tournament is being held.


Navelim’s slogan for the Alvernaz-Lalush Memorial reads: "Friendship through Sports". The event is also supported by AMC- Kuwait and “I Clean Goa” organizations.
