melvnght21 Canada, Jun 21: Encouraged by the very positive feedback, and great support for Wilfynite, Henrynite, and Claudenite in Canada, Canara World Foundation Inc. and it’s organizers are proud to present “Yodelling King” Melwyn Peris to perform for the first time ever in Canara Kala Saanz at the Meadowvale Theatre, Mississauga on Saturday, July 10, 2010.


This event will also display the emerging talents within the Konkani community in Canada who had performed at the Canara Talent Search.  The evening also promises to be entertaining while presenting an avenue to cherish and enjoy our mother tongue Konkani. During the show there will be a presentation of the Excellence in Education Awards in the Intermediate and Senior categories, these awards are instituted in honor and memory of Late Mr. Henry and Mrs. Rose Castelino. Melwyn Peris is popularly known as the “Yodelling King” by his innumerable fans across the globe. He is also known as the “Kishore Kumar” of the Konkani music world because of his versatility to sing with different voice modulations. He is a prolific vocalist and grew up to exhibit his God given talents to emerge as a successful Konkani singer, song writer, composer, guitarist and actor, all groomed in one.


His singing career began as a child when he participated in a singing competition conducted by Konkani Natak Sabha in 1967. The 4 decades of his music career has seen his singing chart and music fans rising with every shows and music albums that he releases. The Konkani music lovers rave and rant about his Baila songs which are sung at most of the Mangalorean parties, gatherings and social functions.
