One-minute silence was observes as a mark of respect to ‘Konkan Kogul’,  the late Wilfy Remimbus, for his extraordinary contribution to the Konkani community, and also to the victims of the recent air crash at Mangalore.

Variety cultural programmes were also organized to entertain the Konkani-loving people and also to inculcate in them a love for their language and culture. Dances, songs, mono-acting, skit, key-board recital etc., were performed by the kids and adults alike.  Several spot games and a mega bumper draw held on the occasion succeeded in keeping the audiences thrilled.

Prominent personalities, Lancy Moras and Wilfred Dsouza, apart from other singers, came all the way from Jeddah to entertain the people with their talents and emotionally touching songs. Arun D’souza Palimar, president of Angan Konkneche, Riyadh, invited all the Mangaloreans to attend the Gulf Voice of Mangalore competition’s semifinal round, to be held in Riyadh later. His team presented a scintillating performance on the occasion.

The programme was compered ably by Alwyn Fernandes, Valencia, Laveena Pinto, Belthangady, and Amrith D’souza, Bondel, with their sense of humour, presence of mind, and witty dialogues throughout the show.

The entire hall was packed, with over 350 people attending the event. The event showcased the solidarity of the Konkani-speaking people living in Saudi Arabia. This also has come as an encouragement for the Konkan youngsters to organize more and more events in the future. Delicious Food was served to the crowd at the end.
