Seven Star Riyadh Team lifts MMA Cup 2011

Saudi Arabia May 30: Mulki Muslim Association (MMA) organised MMA Cup 2011, a cricket tournament for the first time in Saudi Arabia recently.

12 teams with players from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka participated. League matches were played of 12 overs each.

In the first semi final match, Mangalore Kings beat Suhana Travels Mangalore team while in the second semi final match, Seven Star Riyadh defeated Uchila Friends Udupi team.

The final was played on May 20 between Seven Star Riyadh and Mangalore Kings.

Seven Star captain Riyaz Mulki won the toss and asked his counterpart Mangalore Kings captain Younus Wallan to bat first.  Mangalore Kings scored 178 runs from 12 Overs at the loss of 1 wicket.

Openers Imran Kundapur and Shamshu played well. Shamshu hit the very first ball of the first over for four and scored 39 runs from 16 Balls slamming 4 sixes and 2 boundaries.

After the loss of the first wicket at the score of 59,  Nissar  joined Imran and piled up a final score of 178  for 1.

Opening batsman Riyaz Sagar and Naeem  gave a good start. Riyaz Sagar  too hit the very first ball of the first over for a huge six On the other hand Naeem also hit huge sixes and entertained the crowd.

In the first 2 overs Riyaz Sagar and Naeem scored 40 Runs. Riyaz Sagar scored  25 Runs from 9 balls with  2 sixes and 3 boundaries.  Naeem scored  32 runs from 8 balls with 5 huge sixes.

Chief Guests who were present at the prize distribution ceremony were: P. A Hameed - Advance Electonics Company,  Mansoor Arabi - Wallan,  Ghani Mulki- Siemens, Noor -Wallan,  Shamshu Mulki, Ibrahim -Jama Rent a Car,  Hamid , Saleem , and Ashraf Mukka.
