Mangalorean Rahul’s debut Hollywood movie to be released soon

New York, April 14, 2011: The Hollywood debut movie of Rahul Rai, the son of Dr. Dinaker and Shakila Rai of Long Island, New York, “When Harry Tries to Marry” is all set to be released in a few days.

The movie will be released on April 20 at Landmark Sunshine Theatres in New York and on April 22 in many other selected cities all over the US. The sound track comprises 20 songs, of which 3 are the Hindi. You can download them at the iTunes store.

“When Harry Tries to Marry” has already attracted ample attention. It has won nominations at the Mumbai Film Festival, the Austin Film Festival, and the London Asian Film Festival. At the London Asian Film Festival in particular, the movie emerged as the winner in three categories—Audience Award for Best Film, Best Crossover Film, and the Best New Talent Award, which was bagged by Rahul. In short, the movie won the largest number of awards at that film festival.

Rahul was only 18 years old when the film was being made. Nayan Padrai, the director of the film, says that he is a natural actor, who displays maturity much beyond his years. Rahul and his parents have not forgotten their native land Mangalore. He speaks Tulu fluently and his favorite dishes are Yetti Ajadhina and Kori Rotti.
