Mangalore Konkans Dubai to host Konkani cultural event Friday

Dubai, Sep 29, 2011: Mangalore Konkans Dubai will hold a Konkani cultural event at the Sheikh Rashid Auditorium of Indian High School on September 30 Friday at 6:00 p.m.

A team of artistes under the leadership of Stany Alvares has already arrived from Mangalore for the event. Joel Periera, the music director; Vinay Lewis, the winner of the Gulf Voice of Mangalore (GVOM) 2008; and Gladys Lorena, the GVOM 2010 winner are some of the artistes who have flown all the way from Mangalore.

Stany Alvares, who is to play a lead role in Cha Fra’s play Bhangar Monis, said that the play has been received well in Mangalore and has an excellent social message too. He added that the team is looking forward to stage the drama in Dubai.

 

Mangalore Konkans President James Mendonca said that people have accepted the mixture of drama and music on the same stage very well and that the organizers are expecting a large audience.

The organizers have promised that the event will commence at 6:00 p.m. without any speech or stage programme.
