Kuwait, Feb 3, 2014: Cheering crowd, glittering lights, eye catching stage, rib tickling comedy, hearty laugh, melodious songs, foot tapping dances and celebrity stars from India made weekend of Indians in Kuwait a memorable one.


The long awaited event “Indian Carnival-2014” by Hot Stepper, the entertainment wing of the Creative Indians Association was organized on Friday January 31, at American International School, from 6:30 pm onwards.

The highlights of the show were the performances by famous Indian actor and standup comedian Sunil Grover of ‘Gutthi’ fame along with powerhouse singers Toshi and Sharib Sabri and playback-singer, dancer- actor Neha Kakkar. It was a celebration for Indians living in Kuwait during the season of National festival of India - the Indian Republic Day.


The program started with National Anthem of Kuwait and India followed by foot tapping group dances by ‘Dancing Divas’(Choreographer Jyoti Patel) and ’Desi Strikers’ (Choreographer Mabel Suvarna). Compere of the day Nita Bhatkar, Lloyd D’Souza and Merwin Perreira made a cinematic entry with the tunes of Desi Girl, Badtameez Dil and Shahenshah.

The organizing team members of Hot Steppers/ Creative Indians Association Prashanth D’Souza (President), Vinod D’Souza (vice President), Wilson Rayan, Ramdas Revadkar, Rakesh Sequeira, Wilfred Rebello, Shailesh Castelino, Jacob Pinto, Joseph Pinto, Faizan Khan, Vinod Rebello, Vijay Rebello, Raghu Kullal, Pandari Shetty and Manish Ambedkar were introduced by calling them on the stage.

J S Dangi, Second Secretary, Community Affairs and Education - Embassy of India released the souvenir to mark the event. The sponsors and supporters were honored with mementos by President Prashanth D’souza along with Vice President Vinod D’Souza. A draw on entry ticket was conducted and a mobile was presented to lucky winners by main sponsor Huawei.


With scream and cheers of audience, Sunil Grover made his entry as ‘Gutthi’ in traditional Arabic style. Once he removed overall, hechanged into the real character of Gutti with bright salwar-kameez, funky, blue shades and two plaits. He directly went in between the audience and started his humorous talks with them which gave a great feeling to the people surrounded him. It was a really funny moment when he called three gentlemen to the stage and made them to propose him. He entertained the audience with his funny shayari translation and teaching dance steps in ‘Machchar-Dog’ style.

Toshi Sabri made his entry with ‘ Tumjo Mile ho’ freom 70’s movies and continued with 70’s and 80’s super hit such as ‘Like jo Khat tuje’, Tumho kisi ke pyaar mein, Pukarta chala, Kisi ki muskurahat, Meri sapno ki Rani kab etc. Sharib Sabri joined him and both of them took the audience into the waves of sentimental oldies.

Pretty Neha Kakkar with black outfit made her entry with foot tapping number Jadoo Ki Jhappi. She changed the mood of audience from oldies to foot tapping fast numbers. She rocked with her fast songs such as Dhating Naach, Bareilly Ke Bazzar Mein, balam Pichkari, second hand jawani, lat lag gai, Roop tera Mastana, Tum bhi ho etc. She had to sing again her super hit song ‘Pani Pani’ due to public demand.

In his second entry, Sunil Grover entertained the audience with his real male character. He also introduced his new TV show ‘Mad in India’ with his director. He also entertained the audience with his mimicry of actors and small kid. Before ending Neha Kakkar, Toshi and Sharib Sabri gave some fast numbers which was enjoyed by audience thoroughly.

The programme was professionally compared by Kuwait’s well-known emcees Merwin Perreira, Lloyd D’Souza and Nita Bhatkar. Kuwait’s very own DJ Flames (Elton John) entertained at regular intervals with what’s new and happening at the music scene back home. The Event was sponsored by Huawei, Eternity Travels, Pizza Inn, Ethical Realtors, Burgan Bank and Kuwait Swedish Company.

Having previously presented Mika Singh live in concert, Sunidhi Chauhan live in concert, Comedy Circus with Krishna Abhishek and Sudesh Lahri, DJ Akbar Sami, DJ Aqeel Nite and various other entertaining shows under the banner of Indian Carnival and Indian Fiesta, the Hot Stepper’s this event was full of laughter, music and entertainment for one and all.
