Dubai, April 1: Mangalore Konkans Dubai, an association affiliated to the ICWC, Indian Consulate Dubai, has invited all aspiring artists from the Konkani-speaking community in the UAE to participate in the contest ‘Sketching and Paintbrush Challenge’.

The aim is to give all participants the best possible chance to showcase their skills at sketching and painting. On the same occasion, renowned Mangalorean artist Peter Lewis will be felicitated. He will also conduct a workshop for would-be artists to cultivate their hidden talents.

Mangalore Konkans has previously organized many cultural events and talent contests, as well as seminars for personal development.

Rules of the Contest

1. Open to all Konkani-speaking people residing in the U.A.E.
2. Age Categories:
Category A - Above 12 years and below 18 years
(Born between 31.03.1999 & 01.04.1993)

Category B -  18 years above
(born on or before 31.03.1993)

3. Topic:  On the spot creative artwork.
4. Only one entry per participant.
5. Art paper in A3 size will be provided by the organizers.
6. Drawing & painting materials / implements,  including easel (if  required), to be arranged by the participant.
7. Duration of  the contest: 3 hours (maximum)
8. Entries will be judged by a panel of professional artists;
9. Judges’ decision is final.
10. Prizes will be awarded to the winners at a  special function being organized in the month of May 2011 (date to be notified later).
11. Commercial artists are not eligible to participate.
12. Last date for submission of Entry Form is 8th April 2011.
