Dubai, July 3: A bevy of dancing stars of Dubai enthralled the audience at Karnataka Sangha Dance Cup held here at Elite English School, near Century Malla, Deira Dubai on Friday, July 2.
The dance competition was held as a part of Silver Jubilee celebration of Karnataka Sangha. The Contestants in the age group between 10 and 12 years have attracted the onlookers by showing their rare dancing skills. Four contestants have participated under 12 years category and 10 contestants in the age category of over 12 years with 2 teams backing out at the last minute.
The contestants from Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Abudhabi, Al-Ain and also from other emirates have taken to the stage and displayed their mesmerizing talent. Many hidden talents were danced in the colourful stage function. Hunting the talents mainly belonging to Karnataka was the idea behind the competition.
The participants have danced for Kannada, Konkani and tulu songs and made a great attempt to impress the onlookers.
On the occasion, Karnataka Sangha honoured Counsul for passport Amar Jit Singh of the Indian Consulate, Dubai and the Bhasker Rai Kukkuvalli, a veteran Yakshagana artiste from Mangalore. Karnataka Sangha President C.R.Shetty, K.R.Tantry, Daya Kirodian, Manohar Hegde were present on the occasion. Bhasker Rai Kukkuvalli compered the programme.
The title sponsor of the competition was M/S Puravankara Project LTD. The objective of this Dance competition was to bring out the dancing talent of kannadigas here in UAE by bringing them together under one roof and the final 3 winners will get a chance to perform in the “Grand Rajyotsava Program 2010 to be held in November 2010.
