Dr Devan advised the administration of zinc 150 milligram through ryles tube and confidently announced that by the fourth day the patient will recover. The patient’s oxygen saturation had dropped to nearly 50% implying major lung destruction. Miraculously by the second day the patient showed signs of improvement and by the fourth day his oxygen saturation became normal. By the fifth day he was removed from the ventilator and from the sixth day, which was Tuesday, he was shifted to the ward.

Based on the knowledge about zinc and based on the earlier interviews he had conducted, Professor Devan says that the virus enters the body by using ace receptors and uses the protein replicase to multiply in the human body. Patients die because of the cytokines storm that destroys the lungs. All this is blocked by zinc and in the presence of adequate zinc in the body the virus cannot multiply because the replication protein is blocked, which is when the body’s immune mechanism kicks in to clear the virus and the body’s repair mechanism starts repairing the damage done.

Prof Devan had a live TV interview with Dr Faisal, discussing the details of the case for the benefit of all. In the interview, Professor Devan highlighted the need to advocate 50 mg of zinc daily as a preventive measure, based on contemporary available literature, which he stressed, one’s physician will prescribe.
