Budding cricket star Ashley Lobo qualifies for Under 16 UAE Cricket Team

Sharjah, Mar 22, 2012 : Ashley Lobo of Mangalore, who is currently a student of Our Own English High School in Sharjah, has qualified for the Under 16 UAE Cricket Team.

 

 

 

Aged 13, Ashley has played for the ACC Under 16 Challenger Cup at Chiang Mai in Thailand. Since his team was the runner up, it has qualified for the ACC Under 16 Elite Cup, scheduled to be played in Malaysia.

Ashley Lobo, the opening batsman, and Nelukshan D’Silva of Desert Cubs Cricket Academy, Sharjah claimed a world record at the Nissan Gulf Cup Cricket Tournament held on DPS Grounds recently, in which Ashley scored 261 runs in five innings and also won the title of Best Batsman of the Tournament.

He also bagged the title of Player of the Tournament in the recently concluded Four Nation Cup, which was conducted by the Young Talent Cricket Academy, in which he scored 190 runs.

Ashley is also part of the Under 16 Cricket Team of Our Own English High School and this team emerged as the runners up in the inter school cricket tournament organized by Modern High School in Dubai.

Ashley excels at table tennis too and played in the Under 16 Table Tennis Team of Our Own English High School.

Niel Lobo, Ashley’s younger brother, a V grade student is also fond of cricket. He recently bagged the Best All Rounder title at the Four Nation Cup Tournament held recently, in which he was the team captain.
