Dubai, September 20: Billawas Dubai celebrated the 156th birth anniversary of Shri Narayana Guruswamy, the social reformer and philosopher, at the Elite English School. More than 750 people belonging to different communities, including the members of Shri Narayana Dharma Parpalana Yogam (SNDP), along with heads of various organizations participated in the pooja.
The programme commenced at 10 a.m. with bhajans sung by bhajan groups as well as Gulf-born Kannadiga children. The committee members of the Guru puja raised a fabulous mantap with the statue of Shri Narayana Guru, decorated with flowers, fruits, colorful lights, and tulasi. Rows of thalis with fruits, flowers, and the Guru’s photograph were kept for people who offered special pooja.
The pooja was performed by Raghu Bhat, who spoke about the Guru and his teachings. Jyothi Deepak and Deepak were chosen to sit on the pedestal on behalf of the members of Billawas Dubai to accept the pooja offerings. The worship ended with the maha mangalarati, after which people queued up to offer prayers, have darshan, and accept prasadam.
The programme ended with a sumptuous vegetarian buffet meal.
