Dubai, November 26: Billawas Dubai and Northern Emirates will celebrate their 13th anniversary, which is scheduled to be held on Dec 10 at Jumerirah Ballroom in Crown Plaza Hotel on Sheikh Zayed Road, Dubai. The entertainment team, under the leadership of Jagannath Bellare and President Mohan Attavar, is making all the required preparations for the event.

The day-long celebration will be tinged with tradition, according to which it will include traditional folk forms such as Yakshagana, traditional dance presentations, DJ music, and much more. The day will be packed with surprises for one and for all. The highlight of the event will be a performance by Mohanraj, a renowned dancer and choreographer, who will arrive all the way from Mangalore to participate in this event.


Awards will be conferred on several achievers from the Billava community on that day. A number of community leaders from Mangalore and other gulf countries are expected to participate in the event. The chief guest will be Prof. Thukaram Poojary, the president of Rani Abakka Tulu Adhyayan Kendra. His wife Prof. Ashalatha, the vice president of Rani Abbakka Tulu Adhyayana Kendra, will be accompanying him. The guests of honor will be Yogish G. Kotian, the chairman of Guru Charitable Trust; Chennakeshava, the trustee of Guru Charitable Trust; and Chandrashekar Sanil, the trustee of Guru Charitable Trust.


Billawas Dubai and Northern Emirates was launched with the purpose of supporting needy and poor medical, engineering, technical, graduate, and post-graduate students of the community back home by financing their education and providing scholarships. The association has provided Rs. 25 lakhs to over 602 students and 5 organizations so far. The association has also provided medical help worth Rs. 9.41 lakh to over 58 people. Besides, it has provided social support worth Rs. 9.5 lakh for 6 cases. An independent body called Guru Charitable Trust does the identification and short listing of the beneficiaries.
