Aloysian – Agnesia alumni reunion was a grand success

Dubai, Feb 12: The Aloysian - Agnesian alumni reunion was held at Golden Tulip Al Jazira Hotel and Resort on Feb 11, Friday after 2 long years. Former students of St. Aloysius School/College and St. Agnes School/College Mangalore met along with their families for a day of fun and laughter.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The celebrations commenced with soft music played by the All Aloysian – Agnesian band. Errol Goveas was the master of ceremonies. Young children marked the beginning of the day by lighting lamps, after which former students of St. Aloysius College and St. Agnes College marched toward the dais bearing flags of their respective colleges.

B. M. Ashraf, the current chairperson for Aloysians, delivered the welcome address and briefed the audience about the alumni movement in the UAE. Joyce Menezes read the message of Rev. Sr. Marie Prem D’Souza, the current principal of St. Agnes College. Fr. Swebert D’Silva, the principal of St. Aloysis College Mangalore, was the guest of honor at the event. Thanking the alumni for their financial and moral support, he spoke of the development of the St. Aloysius Institutes. Rev. Fr. Denzil Lobo, the director of AIMIT, delivered his message and spoke about the new St. Aloysius campus at Beeri.

The formal ceremony came to an end with the alumni groups singing the college anthems of their respective colleges.

The highlight of the event was the All Aloysian – Agnesian Band, which played popular English, Konkani, Hindi, Tulu, Kannada, and Shri Lankan numbers. The theme of the event was Valentines and an ice breaker Valentines game was organized for couples. A tug of war contest was also held between Agnesians and Aloysians, in which the Aloysians emerged as the winners.

A wide range of entertainment programmes, such as a colorful dance competition, were also organized. The alumni crowd was kept amused with a wide range of fun games such as housie housie, lucky draws, spot prizes, and raffle draws. The main sponsors, co sponsors, associate sponsors, and support sponsors were also felicitated during the event.

The celebrations came to an end with an enthusiastic baila session.
