Abu Dhabi, Feb 6: Abu Dhabi Karantaka Sangha and Youngsters Nakre won the KCO rolling trophies for the ladies throw ball tournament and the men’s volley ball tournament, respectively, which were held on the grounds of the Abu Dhabi Indian School on Feb 4.

The tournament was inaugurated at 9:00 a.m. in the presence of several dignitaries. Richard D’Souza, who holds an important post in the Abu Dhabi Finance Department and is the treasurer of Abu Dhabi Indian School, was the chief guest of the event. The other guests of honor were Dorothy Pinto and Ronald Pinto, Leo Rodrigues, Fr. Anthony Lopez, Lavina Rodrigues, Sarvotham Shetty, Fr. Lewis of Manipal, Richard Castelino, Michael D’Silva, Walter D’Almeida, and others.

Fr. Anthony Lopez, the spiritual director of KCO, led the gathering in prayer. The participants took their oath, after which Mr. Richard D’Souza released white balloons into the air as a symbol of peace and formally inaugurated the event.

While the champions of the volley ball tournament were Youngsters Nakre, the runners up were Ace Spikers. Kaiser and Wilfred Veigas won the best player and best all-rounder awards, respectively.

The winners of the ladies throw ball tournament were Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha and the runners up were Mangalore Konkans Dubai. The best player award was won by Sneha and the best all rounder award was bagged by Sneha.

The best disciplined team award for volley ball was won by St. Lawrence North Kanara and the best disciplined team award for ladies throw ball was won by Konkan Divas.

The tournaments were organized by Gerald D’Mello and his team.
