How many among us, even the so-called patriotic among us fully understand the meaning of Republic Day? What it stands for and how different it is from Independence Day?

As we all know India had to fight hard to attain independence and many lives were lost in the struggle for Independence. Under the able leadership of Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru and Maulana Azad and many others India fought a fair battle uplifting the principles of Ahimsa.

The Republic Day was first celebrated when the Constitution of India came into existence and India formulated an establishment to rule themselves. This constitution came into effect on January 26, 1950, when India became a Republic. Therefore India celebrates this anniversary on January 26 as India’s Republic Day. The day is also celebrated to honour the ’Declaration of Independence of 1930’ from the British Rule.

While there exists uncertainties in the minds of many on the difference between Independence Day and Republic Day, the most apparent difference being that while Independence Day dwells upon the past and remembers the struggles and achievements of the yore; Republic Day is an occasion for renewing of the pledge and the golden words in the Constitution is highlighted.

Another more visible difference being that while Independence Day is mostly rhetoric-based, Republic Day is an out-and-out visual spectacle with no speeches.

In 62 years, Country has progressed, but foundation which is built on its political system and regard for law is nothing to be proud of.

Corruption is poison that’s been flowing in body of the nation for 60 years had just been spreading more and more crippling country further in poverty and keeping doors for under table illegal activities. Being 7th largest country on earth and 2nd in population, India still is a economically developing but a poor country overall. Poverty is raising, poor are getting poorer, costs of food, living is raising so much that many people don’t even get one time of satisfying meal.

Political imbalance is simply due to old age politicians, who have passed retirement age by the time they get on higher level of post, after getting it, they are hardly able to do anything for themselves, forget the people. Corruption within politics is so much that those who selected to run politics of India, are too busy to stay in Politics, so again forget the people who sent them to do something for them.

Law and Security of country is important but often they caught napping. While country develops its important International companies invest, but if they can’t find security in country, they will not take chance. Our cops too busy putting weight on stomach to look like 5 month old pregnant lady, or often too busy finding ways to make under table money. General, public servant thinks he is not making enough money to support family needs, so has to find way around monthly income. But Idiot doesn’t understand that corruption in system is so much that no one gives damn about all this too much as all just in it for own good. If they wake up and start doing and following law, law itself will make things easy and will give progress for them.

And People of country are the biggest culprit because they are also busy making own life, can’t really blame them but can blame them to give votes to politicians who have passed even their retirement age and to those who are corrupt. Just like older the news gets, cold our blood gets and we settle with what we had and have to cry about it another day. oneindia
